Sept. 18, 2017: Employers must use revised I-9 form

Beginning Sept. 18, employers must use the revised I-9 form with a revision date of 07/17/17 N. From July 17–Sept. 17, they are permitted to use the previous form with a date of 11/14/16 N. The new version brings very subtle changes to the form’s instructions and a list of acceptable documents, which were created with the goal of making the form easier to navigate. Current storage and retention rules have not changed. Visit the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services website at uscis.gov/I-9.

September 17, 2020 – January 1, 2023 SB 1159 Report all employee COVID-19 cases to workers’ compensation carrier

Employers who learn that an employee has tested positive for COVID-19 must report specific information in writing to their claim’s administrator within three days. Read more here. Your workers comp carrier will provide more information to you.

September 19, 2020 - December 31, 2020 (unless FFCRA sunset extended) AB 1867 Overrides the FFCRA health care provider exemption.

The law includes language that any entity that employs health care providers or emergency responders that elect to exclude employees from emergency paid sick leave under the federal FFCRA health care provider exemption must provide the leave in California. As a best practice, all employers should comply with emergency paid sick leave under FFCRA.

State and Federal Leaves of Absence Laws that Apply to Employers in California

This resource list provides information about varied state and federal leaves of absence laws that may pertain to a covered employer. Leaves of absence laws cover a variety of specifically defined reasons. Covered employer, employee eligibility, job and benefits-protections and any pay requirements (if any) can vary by leave.

In some instances, several leaves of absence can apply to one employee for the same reason.

Information regarding the requirements to comply with the No Surprises Act which became effective January 1st, 2022.  The No Surprises Act is an effort to protect individuals and provide transparency related to health care costs. Instructions as well as samples of the required notification and the Good Faith Estimate are included.

 

Sterilizer Spore Tests/Biological Indicators Vendor List
