QUICK SUMMARY: CDA urges dentists and other coalition members to take action in the critical fight to prevent the devastating $1 billion Medi-Cal Dental budget cuts. Actions you can take: Send an email directly to your California legislators using the sample message provided; share how the proposed cuts will personally impact you and your practice; print and display flyers to encourage more people to join our campaign.

CDA and the Save Our Dental Care coalition have launched saveourdentalcare.org, providing dentists and other coalition members with ways to take action in the critical fight to prevent devastating Medi-Cal Dental budget cuts. As reported last month, CDA organized the Save Our Dental Care coalition, now composed of 80 health care, labor, workforce and children’s advocacy organizations, to rally against the Medi-Cal Dental funding cuts set to take effect July 1, 2026.

CDA urges members to use the options provided in the Take Action Center. The current options are:

  1. Contact your legislator. Send an email directly to your California legislators using the sample message provided.
  1. Share your story. Dentists, patients and coalition members can use our form to share how the proposed cuts will personally impact them. Short submissions are sufficient. CDA may contact participants for additional details to ensure the stories best support the coalition’s advocacy.
  1. Display the flyer in English and Spanish. Help us spread the word by printing and displaying the coalition’s flyer so more people can join our campaign. A QR code on the flyer will connect patients directly to legislators.

To help guide their conversations on the topic, members can use the key messages and talking points in the “Get the Facts” section of saveourdentalcare.org.

While state budget negotiations will continue into June, CDA encourages members and other supporters to act now and to share these resources with colleagues, patients and friends to involve as many supporters as possible. You can find more information on Prop 56 Frequently Asked Questions.

Watch our newsroom, weekly member newsletter and social media channels for updates on this issue and ways to participate. You can also catch up by reading last month’s announcement about the CDA-convened Save Our Dental Care coalition.
