In an agreement announced today, CDA’s The Dentists Supply Company (TDSC) will join a new parent company, Henry Schein Inc., in late October. The newly formed company will continue its mission to serve state dental association members with an everyday low-price, online option for purchasing dental supplies via TDSC.com.
Henry Schein will be the majority owner and operating company with CDA retaining an ownership interest. Under its new parent company, the strategic vision of TDSC and its value to members will be preserved.
“We’re proud of TDSC’s growth since its inception to help members of state dental associations remain competitive in a challenging practice environment,” said Walt Weber, DDS, chair of the TDSC Board of Directors. “We’re excited to join Henry Schein, as it will expand TDSC’s value proposition to our members.”
An advisory council for TDSC.com, Powered by Henry Schein is being formed to help ensure member value stays at the forefront of the company’s purpose. The council will be comprised of representatives from CDA, Henry Schein, dental association leadership and practicing dentists. The council’s mission will be to provide insights and guidance to the TDSC.com operating team and board of directors.
TDSC brought a unique approach to the dental supply market, specifically as it relates to offering supplies exclusively to dental association members. As such, TDSC looked for partners that had an interest in carrying on the organization’s mission and maintaining the value proposition for members.
Henry Schein recognized the value of TDSC’s model and wanted to continue to serve this community. TDSC.com, Powered by Henry Schein will maintain the core focus of providing consistent, competitive pricing to members of CDA and other state associations, with the added benefit of an expanded product offering and faster delivery service.
This new direction for TDSC will also allow CDA to continue to focus on and invest in the core programs that mean the most to members: practice support, advocacy, education, communication and insurance. Access to TDSC.com, Powered by Henry Schein will continue to be a key member benefit. CDA is confident that in this next phase, TDSC.com will not only continue to provide extraordinary value but will be stronger than ever.
