Sacramento, Calif.– The October 2022 issue of the Journal of the California Dental Association provides a candid view of exclusion and underrepresentation in dentistry from both the patient and clinician perspective and offers several scenarios with “teaching points” for integrating diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging (DEIB) in clinical encounters.
“As a profession, dentistry has the collective obligation to provide oral health care to everyone,” said Kerry K. Carney, DDS, editor-in-chief of the Journal. “This issue of the Journal discusses several aspects of DEIB with a focus on impacts to patient care.”
Articles in the October issue include:
- Humanizing Oral Health: Race, Representation and Equity in Dental Education and Oral Health Care
- Improving Access to Care and Patient Experience Through Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging
