April 17 @ 8:30 am – 4:00 pm PDT
This session for dentists and hygienists will take a deep dive into the world of periodontics and the art of saving teeth and implants. Saving teeth is more predictable than saving ailing and failing implants — this course will review why and convince you to save teeth for our patients and ourselves.
We will review the importance of accurate and timely diagnosis of periodontitis, the multifactorial etiology and disease pathogenesis of periodontitis and peri-implantitis, and the prognostic challenges we face with perio patients. We will review non-surgical options for the general office and anticipated outcomes prior to jumping into periodontal regenerative options and various surgical approaches to treat teeth and implants with bone loss. We will review the oral-systemic link and how to manage medically complex perio patients with systemic co-morbidities. Lastly, we will discuss why treatment without maintenance is of limited value.
If you have ever wondered what perio options exist beyond scaling and root planing — this course if for you. If you have asked why is the periodontist trying to save a tooth with a questionable prognosis — this course is for you. If you have pondered why so many patients have bone loss around implants — this course is for you. If you have random questions for the periodontist you’ve been dying to ask — this course is for you!
