Dr. Jennifer Stone is a passionate advocate for public health dentistry and a dedicated provider for underserved communities. She began her journey at the University of Southern California, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Dental Hygiene. It was during this time that her interest in education and prevention took root, shaping her approach to patient care.
Dr. Stone continued her education at A.T. Still University in Arizona, earning both a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) and a Master of Public Health (MPH). During dental school, she was awarded the prestigious National Health Service Corps Scholarship, which enabled her to fulfill her commitment to serving health workforce shortage areas after graduation in 2020.
Her dedication to community service is evident through her extensive volunteer work, both domestically and internationally, where she has provided free dental care to underserved populations. She has led outreach clinics in countries such as Mexico, Panama, Fiji, and Thailand, bringing essential care to communities in need. In addition, Dr. Stone developed a bilingual educational curriculum for elementary-aged students, empowering them to make healthy lifestyle choices and prioritize their well-being.
In 2020, she moved to Humboldt County to work in a rural community at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC). Now serving as the Associate Dental Director, Dr. Stone focuses on pediatric dentistry, particularly through her work on a mobile dental van, where she provides care to elementary school students directly at their schools. This unique outreach model allows her to address the needs of high-risk populations and improve access to care.
Dr. Stone collaborates with local non-profits to bridge gaps in care for a community with limited access to specialists. Her dedication to prevention and education earned her the 2022 CDA Foundation Student Loan Repayment Grant, recognizing her commitment to serving underserved populations. She is also a contributor to the CDA Medi-Cal Workgroup, advocating for policies to improve access to care.
Dr. Stone is honored to join the CDA Foundation Board of Directors, where she hopes to inspire younger dentists to pursue careers in public health and encourage all dentists to care for Medi-Cal populations. Dr. Stone’s career is driven by a deep commitment to improving oral health outcomes, promoting preventive care, and empowering the next generation of public health dentists.
