Are you prepared to comply with the e-prescribing mandate?

State legislation passed in 2018 requires California prescribers to use electronic data prescribing for nearly all prescriptions starting Jan 1, 2022. If a prescriber prescribes a controlled substance but does not electronically transmit it, the prescriber must document in the patient’s record the reason for not doing so as soon as practicable and within 72 hours of the end of the technological or electrical failure that prevented the transmission. Are your continuing education certificates organized and ready to submit in case of an audit?

Licensees are required to maintain continuing education certificates for at least three renewal periods (six years). If the C.E. completion waiver was used, ensure C.E. certificates are organized so that it can be easily determined which certificates are being applied to a specific license renewal period. Licensees also should ensure that C.E. course providers are approved by the dental board, ADA Continuing Education Recognition Program (CERP) or the Academy of General Dentistry Program Approval for Continuing Education (AGD PACE); otherwise, the course may not be recognized by the board for C.E. credit.
