Sacramento, Calif. – The October issue of the Journal of the California Dental Association presents new research on evolving approaches dentists can take in caring for pediatric patients and the effects parenting and the pandemic have on that care.

“Understanding the parent-child dynamic is vital in the delivery of person-centered dental care to children,” said Kerry K. Carney, DDS, editor-in-chief of the CDA Journal. “With COVID-19 further complicating this dynamic, this issue of the Journal provides dentists with valuable insight into treating children and their parents during the pandemic.”

Articles in this issue include:

  • “The Millennial Family: Adapting Behavior Guidance to Contemporary Parenting” by Adi A. Genish, DDS, and Clarice Law, DMD, MS.
  • “Pediatric Patient-Centered Care in General Dentistry: We’re Closer Than You Might Think” by Kimberly J. Hammersmith, DDS, MPH, MS; Susan A. Fisher-Owens, MD, MPH; and Paul S. Casamassimo, DDS, MS.
  • “Teledentistry: Opportunities and Recent Developments in Pediatric Dentistry” by Ray E. Stewart, DMD, MS; Jean Marie Calvo, DDS, MPH; Paul Glassman, DDS, MA, MBA; Lisa Berens, DDS, MPH; and Eni Obadan-Udoh, DDS, MPH, Dr. Med. Sc.
  • “Impact of COVID-19 on the Pediatric Population” by Jessica Y. Lee, DDS, MPH, PhD; Janice A. Townsend, DDS, MS; and Eva C. Ihle, MD, PhD.

The Journal of the California Dental Association is an award-winning peer-reviewed scientific publication that keeps dentists up to date about scientific advances, business management strategies and new products.
