June 2019

The June 2019 Update highlights The Dentist Supply Company's most recent expansion that lets members of organized dentistry in 47 states save on purchases through tdsc.com. This issue also explains how to adopt and follow an alternative workweek in the dental practice, describes a new requirement for businesses seeking tax ID numbers and details CDA's new online Employee Manual Generator.

 

May 2019

The May 2019 Update features a story about several dentists and their staff who are beginning to make progress after the devastating wildfires in California last fall. Also included are articles about dental student participation in Grassroots Advocacy Days at the state Capitol and a new CDA resource that lets members easily report issues with dental benefits plans online.

 

April 2019

Articles in the April 2019 Update discuss CDA-sponsored legislation that protects dentists during network leasing, a CDA-supported bill that makes SDF a covered Medi-Cal benefit and a group of bills aimed at reducing the consumption of sugar-sweetened beverages. Also covered is a new law that delays a requirement that prescribers use new prescription forms for controlled substances.

 

March 2019

The March 2019 Update details the expansion of the Dental Transformation Initiative to dentists in 26 counties to test new delivery models for treating young children. This issue also highlights a new cadaver implantology workshop at CDA Presents that's geared for every skill level and explains how to stay compliant when hiring, classifying and paying temporary employees.

 

February 2019

The February 2019 Update explains a law that took effect Jan. 1 requiring a new serial number on controlled-substance prescription forms. This issue also clarifies the new infection-control requirement for dental pulp procedures, explains how to comply with and manage paid sick leave and announces CDA's new opioid policy and the Prop. 56 Dental Loan Repayment Program.

 

January 2019

The January 2019 Update comprehensively explains the new sexual harassment prevention training that employers are required to provide to their employees by Jan. 1, 2020. This issue also describes TDIC's new informed consent form to help dentists follow the law when prescribing opioids to minors and includes a story about forensic odontologists' work to identify victims of California's Camp Fire.
