Intro to Acupuncture Points and Needle Based Therapy in Everyday Dentistry

This lecture course will provide an overview of Traditional Chinese Medicine acupuncture points and different needle based therapy for managing common dental and orofacial conditions. Descriptions and applications will focus on a patient centered, personalized, integrative and complementary approach. Requirements to expand a scope of practice to include Dental Acupuncture will also be covered.

• Eastern vs Western philosophy and diagnosis
• Dry vs Wet needling
• Common acupuncture point useful in everyday dentistry and management of anxiety and gagging
• Requirements to expand scope of practice to include Dental Acupuncture
• Aseptic technique, needle types and design, localizing common dental acupuncture points, and needling techniques

After the course participants will have an understanding of Traditional Chinese Medicine’s acupuncture points and different needle based therapy in a patient centered, personalized, integrative, complementary approach when managing common dental and orofacial conditions.
