Regulatory Agencies

Dental Board of California (DBC)
The Dental Board oversees all things related to dental licensing for dentists and dental assistants in the state of California. Need to take an exam? Renew your license? All that and more can be done here. On April 1,2010, the DBC changed requirements for providing and obtaining continuing education units or dental licensees. You can read a summary of those changes here.

Western Regional Examining Board (WREB)
WREB is a national dental- and dental-hygiene testing agency.

Dental Hygiene Committee of California (DHCC)
The responsibilities of DHCC include issuing licenses, conducting examinations, adopting regulations, determining fees and continuing education requirements for all dental hygiene licensure categories.

Dental Assisting National Board (DANB)
Administers national certification of dental assistants leading to Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) licensure. This license is not recognized in California.
