DESCRIPTION:American College of Dentists\, in partnership with Santa Barbara Ventura County Dental Society\, is presenting a Hybrid CE Course on the important of strong ethical decision-making for practice success. \n\n\n\nWhat the Ancient Greeks can Teach Today’s Dentists about Ethics and Virtues \n\n\n\n\nUnderstand the basic concept of Stoicism and its practical application in today’s dental practice\n\n\n\nExplore the timeless benefits of a “virtues” focused practice philosophy\n\n\n\nConsider common ethical dilemmas and how Stoic virtues can guide better decision making\n\n\n\n\n“Was it Something I Said?” Improved Communication Skills for the Dental Team \n\n\n\n\nExplore proven best practices of successful patient-provider interactions\n\n\n\nReview best practices in establishing rapport\, active listening and building trust\n\n\n\nDemonstrate components of Motivational Interviewing\, Teach Back and using “plain” language in patient communication\n\n\n\n\nDr. Jean Creasey\, faculty member at the new Cal-Northern Dental School in Elk Grove (Sacramento area)\, will discuss issues of classical ethics and virtues in today’s dental offices.  She is supplementing this topic with material on improving effective communications between the dental team and your patients.
