The Spot, now in two locations at CDA Presents, offers up to 35 free lectures

The Spot Educational Theaters at CDA Presents The Art and Science of Dentistry in Anaheim will offer free one-hour lectures by industry experts during exhibit-hall hours all three days of the convention. With two locations of The Spot, attendees have the opportunity to attend up to 35 free lectures covering topics ranging from ethics to informed consent and from student loan refinancing to chronic wound therapy. Many lectures offer one unit of continuing education credit.

The first educational theater is located in Hall C of the Anaheim Convention Center exhibit hall, just steps from the main entrance and adjacent to the registration area. There attendees can catch lectures every hour on the hour from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday, May 16-17, and from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, May 18.

The Spot in Hall C doubles as the C.E. Pavilion, where attendees can verify the C.E. units of CDA Presents Anaheim courses they’ve completed, take course surveys and email their course scans to themselves for future reference. Convention-goers can also stop there to learn about recently launched products within the dental industry and where to find the products and product experts on the exhibit hall floor.

The second educational theater is located in aisle 2000 in the back of Hall D, between the restaurant and concessions. Lectures at this location run on the same schedule as those in The Spot in Hall C — every hour on the hour during exhibit-hall hours. Work areas and a lounge are next to the second educational theater, but both locations offer seating and a place to recharge electronics.

Lecture lineup, highlights

Highlights on the schedule for Thursday, May 16, include “Characteristics of Ethical Dental Professionals,” presented by CDA Peer Review, and “Informed Consent: More Than a Signature,” presented by The Dentists Insurance Company. In addition, each of CDA Practice Support’s four analysts will present on a subject in their area of expertise: dental benefits, employment practices, practice management and regulatory compliance.

Friday, May 17, brings another full schedule that includes “Chronic Wound Therapy for Patients With Periodontal Disease” by Duane C. Keller, DMD, a talk about CDA’s advocacy work and how dentists’ voices are important to that work, a presentation by CDA Endorsed Program CommonBond about student loan refinancing options, as well as more courses by the CDA Practice Support experts.

The Spot will wrap up Saturday with three lectures, including one about marketing and managing a practice’s reputation on social media.

The full lecture schedule for The Spot Educational Theaters is listed in the CDA Presents program available on-site or at cdapresents.com/thespot. Lectures offered for credit are noted in the program. To receive credit, attendees must check in with the host but are not required to check out. (To receive C.E. credit for all other courses at CDA Presents, attendees are required to scan both in and out.)
