Innovation, sustainability and growth through 27,000 members

CDA is celebrating an important milestone as membership grew to 27,000 dentists in December 2016. This growth allows the association to continue to deliver on its promises to long-term members and new ones, such as Kevin Kai, a student at the University of Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry. “My experience in organized dentistry has been irreplaceable,” says Kai. “It’s been invaluable toward my success as a student and hopefully to my success later on.”

How all members can celebrate this milestone

For all members, a community of 27,000 means greater representation through constant advocacy efforts to ensure diverse dentists across the state have a voice in policymaking.

It means the availability of crucial practice support resources to help dentists easily manage the business and regulatory side of dentistry so they can stay focused on what they do best — providing great dental care to Californians.

It means robust continuing education opportunities through lectures and workshops taught by leading speakers recruited from around the world to share their expertise at CDA’s biannual convention: CDA Presents The Art and Science of Dentistry.

It means increased protection for dentists insured by The Dentists Insurance Company, which recently expanded to five additional states, ensuring a broad premium base and the financial stability to support policyholders through strong dividends, all with a commitment to a singular focus on protecting the dental profession.

It means staying informed through timely delivery of news, information and best practices in every channel. CDA frequently upgrades and expands its technology to meet today’s mobile dentists wherever they work or travel.

How CDA meets the unique needs of dentists

While “all members” includes new dentists, CDA recognizes that those just entering the profession have different needs than seasoned dentists. This is why the CDA Foundation, the philanthropic arm of CDA, helps new dentists through a student loan repayment program while also addressing the needs of underserved communities. This is why CDA sponsored successful legislation to improve the California Dental Board Student Loan Repayment program. This is why CDA created the Leadership Discovery Pilot Program for new dentists. And, all of this is why CDA consistently earns ADA awards for building a strong membership that reflects culture and gender diversity.

Of course, the value of CDA membership extends beyond business benefits. Members also receive the benefit of networking with peers through mentorship that fosters professional growth as well as the relationships developed and sustained through association events throughout the year. From learning new skills to receiving a letter of recommendation, members go farther with the support of a community of their peers. All 27,000 of them.
