Give Kids a Smile registration underway

February is National Children's Dental Health Month, and many local dental societies and the ADA are making preparations for Give Kids a Smile --an annual volunteer initiative to provide dental screenings, treatment and education at no charge to underserved children.

The official kickoff date is Feb. 5; however, Give Kids a Smile programs can take place throughout the year. Program coordinators are encouraged to register their events at adafoundation.org/en/give-kids-a-smile. In addition, it is important for program coordinators to report their actual numbers on the GKAS website after the program takes place in order to be eligible for donated dental products the following year.

Since the program began in 2003, the Give Kids a Smile program has provided care to more than 5 million underserved children. Annually, approximately 10,000 dentists and 30,000 dental team members donate their time and skills.

Dentists and dental professionals interested in participating in Give Kids a Smile 2016 are encouraged to contact their local dental societies for information on events in their communities. For more information on Give Kids a Smile, email gkas@ada.org or call 312.440.4600.
