The Ad Council’s Kids’ Healthy Mouths campaign offers educational materials for dentists to share with children and parents about the importance of brushing for two minutes, twice a day. The online toolkit, which can be found at 2min2x.adcouncil.org, contains oral health fact sheets, posters, videos and graphics that can be easily downloaded for display in offices or posting on social media. The Toothsavers brushing game, a mobile app, is also available for downloading.

The toolkit is part of the Kids’ Healthy Mouths campaign that was launched in 2012 by the Ad Council and the Partnership for Healthy Mouths, Healthy Lives — a coalition of 36 dental organizations, including CDA, which is a key member of the executive council that has overseen the development of the research-based messages.

The idea behind the toolkit is to allow dentists and other health care providers to help spread the “two minutes, twice a day” message through community outreach to patients, schools and organizations they are associated with.

Ad Council surveys reveal that parents are getting the message about the importance of brushing, with reported improvements in children’s brushing habits as well as increases in the percentage of parents who have recently seen or heard messages about “two minutes, twice a day.”

Through the third quarter of 2014, the Kids’ Healthy Mouths public service announcements had received more than $64 million in donated media nationwide and the 2min2x.org website has been visited 1.7 million times.
