CURES webinar offers important registration tips

CDA is hosting a webinar, presented by the Department of Justice, on May 25 to assist member dentists with the Controlled Substance Utilization Review and Evaluation System (CURES 2.0) registration process and any questions they may have regarding the new system.

All prescribers in California with U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration registrations are required to register by July 1 to access California's prescription drug monitoring program, designed to aid prescribers and dispensers in identifying fraudulent or drug-seeking activity by a patient. Dentists are strongly encouraged to consult CURES when considering a controlled substance prescription for a new patient or a patient suspected of drug dependency.

Prescribers must have updated browsers to access the CURES 2.0 system. To access CURES 2.0, dentists are required to use Microsoft Internet Explorer Version 11.0 or greater, Mozilla FireFox, Google Chrome or Safari.

The free webinar will take place Wednesday, May 25, at 12:15 p.m. Participate by going to http://bit.ly/CURESweb at the time of the webinar. The "password" field should automatically generate, however, if prompted for a password, use "webinar" to log in.

If internet access is unavailable, dentists may join the webinar for audio by calling 1.877.668.4490 and using access code 804 201 099.

To register for CURES 2.0, visit oag.ca.gov/cures.
