CDA motorcycle ride benefits Foundation

The sixth annual CDA “Ken Sanford Memorial Motorcycle Ride” at Sequoia National Park raised more than $10,000 for the CDA Foundation — a record amount for this event.

During the 2014 motorcycle, bicycle and dual sport ride event, dentists rode for approximately 200-300 miles from Sequoia National Park and had the opportunity to earn C.E. units from speakers David Hatcher, DDS, and Paul Homoly, DDS.

“Thank you to all who participated. This event offers dentists a great opportunity to get together with colleagues to honor Dr. Sanford and earn C.E., all while supporting the CDA Foundation,” said Don Rollofson, DMD, chair of the CDA Foundation. “My wife and I both had a great weekend at this fundraiser and I suggest you all mark your calendars for the next one.”

Ken Sanford, DDS, was one of the original organizers of the first motorcycle ride in 2009. Sadly, he was tragically killed in a motorcycle accident in July 2010, and the event was renamed in his honor.

With a goal of raising money for the CDA Foundation and its two flagship programs, CDA Cares and the Student Loan Repayment Grant, while combining top quality C.E. opportunities with rides on some of the most scenic roads in California, the September event was a huge success. And to date, the Ken Sanford Memorial Motorcycle Ride event has contributed $33,150 to the Foundation.

The seventh annual event is scheduled for Sept. 3-6, 2015, at Topaz Lake Lodge in the East Sierras. Located approximately 50 miles south of Carson City, Nev., the next ride will offer participants a number of additional activities including great mountain biking and dual sport rides, water sports on Topaz Lake, fishing on the Walker River, hiking the Sierra Passes and more.
