Bettie Underwood dental assisting scholarship awarded

The CDA Foundation again provided the Bettie Underwood Dental Assisting Scholarship, selecting Stefanie Dellatori of San Diego Mesa College, to receive the financial award offered to dental assisting students in pursuit of their educational goals.

Dellatori showed financial need, academic achievement and a strong desire for a career in the dental field, stating that her long-term goal is to “help patients improve their health through quality care.”

Bettie Underwood was an outstanding leader in dental assisting in California and the nation — having served on the original AB1455 committee that paved the legislation for the registered dental assistant in California and proudly proclaimed that once the legislation was enacted, she received RDA certificate #4. She left in her estate money for the CDA Foundation to support students in the field of oral health, specifically dental assisting.
