Applications open for grants and awards

The CDA Foundation offers financial support to dental professionals and community-based organizations across the state that provide dental care to underserved communities. One of the ways the Foundation offers support is through its grants and scholarships, which are available throughout the year and have various deadlines and submission periods. The Foundation is currently accepting applications and nominations for the following grants and awards:

Dental Materials & Supplies Grant
Working in partnership with Henry Schein Cares, this grant supports nonprofit organizations with the donated dental supplies and materials needed to provide oral health services for underserved individuals in the community.
Application period: Jan. 1 – March 31

Dr. Arthur A. Dugoni Faculty Award
This award acknowledges and supports eligible faculty affiliated with the state’s six dental schools for their exceptional leadership, innovation, collaboration, compassion, philanthropic spirit and integrity in dental education. The award was developed to support individuals who contribute to the scholarly and creative activities of California dental students. The CDA Foundation encourages individuals who meet the selection criteria to apply as this is a self-application program.
Application period: Jan. 1 – March 31

CDA Foundation Humanitarian Award
The CDA Foundation Humanitarian Award recognizes California dentists who have distinguished themselves through a lifetime of outstanding unselfish leadership and contributions to fellow human beings in the field of dentistry.
Nomination period: April 1 – June 30

The application period for the Student Loan Repayment Grant, which helps recent dental school graduates offset their student loan debt — with awards of up to $35,000 per year — will open May 1. In addition, the Webb Family Grant, named for longtime volunteers Russell Webb, DDS, and Kathi Webb, provides an annual award of up to $5,000 toward educational expenses for an eligible individual who has applied to, meets all of the criteria for and is selected as runner-up for the Student Loan Repayment Grant.

CDA will announce open application periods for this grant and other grants, scholarships and awards in future issues of the CDA Update and on cda.org.

The CDA Foundation’s mission is to improve the oral health of all Californians by supporting the dental profession in its efforts to meet community needs and represents the dental profession that generously gives back to help meet the needs of Californians.
