DESCRIPTION:Description SynopsisRemovable partial dentures and complete dentures are still an option for patients who may have limited resources\, or there is no better way to aid the patient. This course will review basic information on RPDs\, look at each component of the appliance and their function. We will look at how to use implants to stabilize the RPD and make the prosthesis clasp free. There is often confusion on the need for a separate impression for the distal extension case. This is not necessary\, and we will review how to do a single impression for the distal extension RPD. We will look at new materials on the market\, how effective are they\, how do they hold up with time\, and how are they constructed. We will review digital imaging for dental implants and the fabrication and printing of surgical guides. The placement of immediate dentures can often be challenging\, Dr. Hansen has over thirty years of experience in both the surgery and the placement of conventional immediate dentures.ObjectivesWe will look at how to predictably fabricate and place the immediate denture. We will review both the surgical aspect and the prosthodontic aspect.Review basic principles of RPDs. SUMMARY:Medical Emergency Management in a Dental Setting
DESCRIPTION:Description As part of our daily practice\, we assess and treat dental patients of different ages and medical backgrounds. Despite our best efforts\, medical emergencies in a dental setting are rare and can and will occur. In this lecture\, Dr. Alanes will discuss these emergencies and their etiologies and teach providers how to identify and treat them promptly and appropriately. Each member of the dental practice plays a crucial role in this emergent situation to provide the best possible care. In this presentation\, Dr. Alanes will explain ways to communicate openly\, assign responsibilities\, and rehearse and document the incident effectively. By understanding emergencies and how these can be handled\, the treating dentist can ensure the safety of their patients as well as enhance their office’s awareness.

However\, given the increased demand by patients and the certain advantages that ceramic implants have over their titanium counterparts\, the field is growing rapidly. Ceramic implants have equal osseointegration to titanium\, superior mucointegration\, better esthetics and minimal to no peri-implantitis in long term studies.
