SUMMARY:EVERYTHING YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT COMPOSITE IN 2024: Master Anterior & Posterior Techniques of Direct Composite and Create Undetectable Restorations
DESCRIPTION:This course will utilize an easy\, fast and practical placement technique with a bulk fill posterior composite. This procedure is based on proven adhesives\, advanced composite materials and new technologies. The cases presented have been published in national peer reviewed journals. There is something for everyone to learn with valued takeaways. \n\n\n\n\nTrain your eyes to see color\, line angles\, reflective surface\, shape\, and form in the adjacent tooth that is being replicated\n\n\n\nLearn how to achieve a predictable composite restoration following the stratification of opacities and achieve undetectable restorations\n\n\n\nLearn how to layer the different opacities of composite\, opaquing\, tinting\, finishing and surface texture to create natural light reflection and make a fracture line disappear\n\n\n\nReview current composite materials\, bonding systems\, c factors\, and techniques necessary to achieve predictable outcomes\, while minimizing post operatory sensitivity\n\n\n\nMaster the techniques of posterior composite placement with bulk fill technology and matching techniques\n\n\n\n\nBRING YOUR LOOPS for MAGNIFICATION !

SUMMARY:Basic Life Support / Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation – March 2024
DESCRIPTION:Cardiopulmonary resuscitation\, commonly known as CPR\, is an emergency procedure performed in an effort to manually preserve intact brain function until further measures are taken to restore spontaneous blood circulation and breathing in a person who is in cardiac arrest. It is indicated in those who are unresponsive with no breathing or abnormal breathing\, for example\, agonal respirations. \n\n\n\nPer the Dental Board of California (https://www.dbc.ca.gov/licensees/continuing_education.shtml)\, to complete the continuing education requirements as outlined in Title 16\, California Code of Regulations\, Sections 1016 and 1017 for renewal of a license or permit\, completion of the mandatory courses include: Basic Life Support (BLS) course provided by the American Red Cross (ARC)\, American Heart Association (AHA)\, or a provider approved by PACE or CERP. A maximum of 4 credits will be awarded for completion of this course. \n\n\n\nSpeaker: As a southern California native\, Dr. Lohiya is excited to serve the West L.A. and South Bay communities with their oral surgical needs. SUMMARY:Luminous Smiles
DESCRIPTION:Often times\, after clear aligner therapy\, the patient is left dissatisfied with the worn and chipped incisal edges of the upper anterior teeth once their teeth are in the correct functional position. A conservative\, enamel preserving\, and methodical method of composite bonding can result in excellent esthetic results. I will show cases of worn incisal edges post clear aligner therapy and clinical tips on how to perform composite bonding in a step-by-step approach. The techniques will help the clinician with composite shade selection and bonding protocols. Lastly\, shaping\, contouring and polishing the composite restoration will be demonstrated. \n\n\n\nLearning objectives: \n\n\n\n\nReview bonding protocols\n\n\n\nLearn indications for incisal enhancement composite bonding.\n\n\n\nLearn to choose the correct composite shade when performingincisal enhancement procedures.\n\n\n\nLearn to prepare bonding on anterior teeth.\n\n\n\nDemonstrate contouring and polishing techniques.

SUMMARY:The Synergistic Role of CBCT and 2D Imaging in Pathology Diagnosis and Treatment Planning: A Case-Based Review
DESCRIPTION:This course is an overview of the typical anatomical structures visualized in a Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) scan; it also covers variations of normal anatomy and the pathological processes that appear in a 3D scan. Radiographic presentation of significant pathologies\, including malignancies with clinical cases\, is discussed. A comprehensive discussion on soft tissue calcifications that may be seen in a CBCT scan and strategies to diagnose them radiographically is provided. Learning Objectives: Through reviewing clinical cases become familiar with radiographic signs of important pathologies in CBCT images. Be able to recognize the cases where CBCT can add diagnostic value to accurate diagnosis of the case (Selection criteria). Be able to describe common radiographic findings associated with different jaw pathosis including cystic\, neoplastic\, fibro-osseous\, and more. Be able to diagnose common soft tissue radiopacities in 2D and 3D images.

SUMMARY:Dental Acupuncture and Integrative Oral Medicine (Session 2 of 4)
DESCRIPTION:Patients are increasingly seeking out acupuncture as an adjunct to standard pain control measures. This is becoming more relevant in the setting of the current opiate epidemic\, as acupuncture provides a non-pharmacologic approach to reduce pain. This is also important in the realms of sleep medicine and orofacial pain where pharmacotherapy is riddled with a high side effect burden and risk of abuse. Despite the WHO having recommended acupuncture for treatments on headache\, facial pain\, neuralgia and insomnia\, few programs are available for dentists who wish to seek training. \n\n\n\nUCLA School of Dentistry is offering a unique\, evidence-based program to train dentists in the basics of dental acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) theory. By combining TCM principles with Western allopathic Medicine modalities\, participants will feel comfortable diagnosing and understanding the pathophysiology of both acute and chronic oral pain conditions from an integrative East-West perspective. Moreover\, participants will learn basic acupuncture treatments that can be safely delivered to patients. \n\n\n\n4 Session Course at UCLA February 2-4\, 2024 March 8-10\, 2024 April 19-21\, 2024 May 31- Jun 2\, 2024 \n\n\n\nThis course consists of 50 hours of didactic and 30 hours of clinical training including instruction on the following subjects: -Theoretical foundation of acupuncture\, with emphasis on current physiological concepts as they relate to traditional -Chinese medicine -Acupuncture anatomy and physiology -Acupuncture techniques\, including instruction in the use of needling techniques; moxibustion\, electroacupuncture and other noninvasive techniques for stimulating acupuncture points; precautions (e.g. sterilization of needles); contraindications and complications\, including adverse systemic effects -Application of acupuncture to the practice of dentistry \n\n\n\nKenneth E.
