Housekeeping Schedule
Use this customizable form to record the schedule and details for cleaning the dental practice. This form is part of the CDA Regulatory Compliance Manual. This form also can be used to comply with the dental board's requirement to develop, maintain and periodically update a written protocol for operatory cleanliness.

Do You Need to Reclassify Your Exempt Employee? Fair Labor Standards Act overtime regulations effective Dec 1, 2016
The U.S. Department of Labor released new Fair Labor Standards Act rules that require employers to pay overtime to exempt employees who earn salaries of less than $47,476 per year, beginning Dec. 1, 2016. California practice owners will need to review the duties test to determine that employees clearly meet the job duties of an exempt position and either increase employee salaries to be compliant with these new regulations or reclassify employees as nonexempt, hourly employees.

Sample Patient Appreciation Letters
Dental practice owners can spend significant time, money and effort increasing new patient volume, but often the greatest way to grow a practice is by maximizing the practice's existing patient base. A patient appreciation letter is an excellent internal marketing tool to express  "thank you" to loyal patients and keep them informed of the services the practice provides.

Dealing with Refund Demands from Dental Plans
In responding to a refund demand, it should be remembered that, as with any other type of payment dispute, the resolution with the dental plan doesn't need to be complicated. When it can be shown that a disputed claim refund is contrary to the plan's schedule of benefits and allowable fees, or contrary to its payment policies on a particular procedure, the issue can usually be resolved in a timely manner and in the dentist's favor.

Cal/OSHA Training Requirements for Dental Practices
This checklist of Cal/OSHA training requirements also includes a comparison of the dental board's infection control continuing education requirement and Cal/OSHA's bloodborne pathogens/exposure control training requirements.
