Questions the practice owner should consider before hiring a new Dental Assistant for On-the-Job and Online Training:

Before hiring someone new, have you considered cross training an existing member of your team who may be interested in training to be a Dental Assistant?
Who in your practice will be responsible for training and mentoring the new dental assistant and has the capacity to do so on a daily basis?
What dedicated space and computer with internet access will you make available for the new assistant to conduct their daily/regular online learning?
How do you plan to keep track of the minimum hours of training that will be necessary before the new dental assistant is able to work chairside?
What time each week will you or a lead staff person set aside to meet with the new dental assistant to assess progress toward completion of the proposed training plan or the online curriculum?
