The planned fee reductions affect approximately 2200 endodontists, oral surgeons and periodontists in the Delta Dental Premier network.
First and foremost, I hope you are staying safe and well this weekend. In the midst of everything going on around us, I have some positive news to share. CDA has been working around the clock to bring solutions and accurate information to members, providing options and advocating for economic relief from the hardships we are all experiencing as a result of this unprecedented health crisis.
Earlier today, Delta Dental of California announced its decision to postpone the effective date of its planned fee reductions to approximately 2,200 endodontists, oral surgeons and periodontists in the Delta Dental Premier network from July 1, 2020, to Jan. 1, 2021.
CDA has been aggressively advocating for economic relief and financial support for dentists, including from dental benefit companies to keep their provider networks robust, viable and available to patients.
With the COVID-19 pandemic causing a significant impact on the dental profession, CDA is pleased that Delta Dental of California has postponed the effective date of reductions for these specialty practices. This is a step toward relieving some immediate pressure from the financial devastation. We continue to ask Delta to reevaluate this action, especially given the major disruption of COVID-19, and to consider loan and grant relief efforts, which other plans across the country have begun to offer.
If you are a specialist affected by this action, you can learn more about the original fee reduction notification announced Feb. 28, and this latest postponement by viewing your contracted fee reports or reaching out to Delta Dental at 888.742.4099 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
CDA Practice Support developed an FAQ with a checklist to help members learn more about the potential effects of this change to their practice. You may also reach out to CDA at 800.232.7645 to speak to one of our Practice Support analysts for more guidance.
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a devastating impact on all of us and our communities. We are in this together, fighting for you and your practice. Until we can return to routine care for all of our patients, know that CDA will continue to advocate for relief and serve our members and the profession of dentistry in every opportunity we can.
Stay safe and be well,
Richard Nagy, DDS
