The May 2023 collection of the Journal of the California Dental Association explores the use of oral appliances in dentistry.

“While oral appliance therapy is an important treatment for some conditions, dentists should be mindful of specific and nonspecific effects of the therapy in order to optimize treatment benefits,” said Kerry Carney, DDS, editor-in-chief of the Journal. “Research featured in this Journal collection provides information and guidance for navigating those effects.”

Articles featured in the latest collection include:

  • Sports Dentistry: Mouthguard Research No Longer Limited to Trauma Prevention
  • Oral Appliance Therapy in the Management of Temporomandibular Disorders and Bruxism
  • A Modified C-Palatal Plate as a Skeletal Anchorage Appliance for Efficient Molar Distalization
