Quick Summary:
A scammer, posing as an employee of the state Acupuncture Board, is reaching out to licensees in an attempt to gather their personal information.

The Dental Board of California has issued an alert about a scam targeting licensees of the California Department of Consumer Affairs boards and bureaus. A scammer, posing as an employee of the state Acupuncture Board, is reaching out to licensees in an attempt to gather their personal information.

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be an employee of any board or bureau, the DBC advises you to:

  • Get the caller’s name, job title, phone number and email address, let them know you will directly contact the department, board or bureau they claim to be employed by and then end the call.
  • End the call without explanation if it appears suspicious or to be a scam.
  • Contact the board or bureau responsible for issuing your license.

Never disclose any personal information, such as Social Security numbers, birth dates or credit/debit card numbers. DCA staff will never ask for credit/debit card numbers or information over the phone.

The contact information for all DCA boards and bureaus can be found on the DCA’s website.
