The California Dental Association, representing 27,000 dentists, is strongly supportive of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s proposed budget. Specifically, CDA applauds Gov. Newsom for his investments to promote greater health equity through workforce development, oral health care improvements and vaccine distribution.
In a move to address the state’s shortage of health care providers eligible to administer COVID-19 vaccines, the Department of Consumer Affairs today approved a public health emergency waiver that will allow the state’s 36,000 dentists to administer COVID-19 vaccines to people age 16 and older.
CDA strongly supports Gov. Gavin Newsom’s appointment of Secretary of State Alex Padilla to the U.S. Senate. We have greatly appreciated Padilla’s extensive work in California and his partnership on major health care issues, including oral health.
The California Dental Association strongly supports President-elect Joe Biden’s nomination of Attorney General Xavier Becerra for secretary of the Department of Health & Human Services. Becerra is the finest choice to lead the nation through this challenging public health emergency while also improving health care programs, including Medicare and Medicaid.
With a new, Regional Stay at Home Order issued by Gov. Gavin Newsom, the California Dental Association urges Californians to follow state guidance while taking steps to maintain overall health and prevent COVID-19 infection. In addition to getting flu shots, exercising when safe and wearing masks, CDA encourages the public to keep their health care appointments, including dental visits.
