Meeting community needs during COVID-19: Easy ways to support CDA Foundation programs for the underserved

August 27, 2021 1039

Quick Summary:

The Foundation’s dentist-led board is pursuing new ways to deliver and support oral health care for Californians for the remainder of 2021 and heading into 2022. Easy ways to support Foundation programs are available that help to ensure access to care. Here are three of them.

The COVID-19 landscape continues to evolve, and nonprofit organizations, especially those that facilitate access to health care, need support more than ever as they explore ways to deliver essential services to individuals safely ― and typically at an increased financial cost.

As the philanthropic arm of the California Dental Association, the CDA Foundation reduces barriers to oral health care in underserved communities through its two flagship programs, CDA Cares and the Student Loan Repayment Grant, plus other annual grants and awards for dentists, educators and organizations who are committed to CDA’s mission: To improve the oral health of all Californians by supporting the dental profession in its efforts to meet community needs.

Foundation gets creative in the COVID-19 environment

The Foundation is getting creative in the COVID-19 environment: Although the large-scale CDA Cares events are on hold, the CDA Foundation last year hosted a small, safe denture clinic for 11 patients who were made edentulous at CDA Cares San Bernardino in 2019. And this year, the Student Loan Repayment Grant will provide a higher award amount ― up to $250,000 ― to one or two selected new dentists who commit to caring for Medi-Cal Dental patients.

Make a one-time or ongoing donation online

It’s easy to make an individual donation online. Donors can choose to contribute one time only or monthly ― for the year or on an ongoing basis. You can donate for as little as $5 and have the option to contribute anonymously or in someone’s honor or memory.

Stop by booth No. 716 at CDA Presents in San Francisco

Visit CDA Foundation staff at the CDA Member Benefits Center (booth 716) Sept. 9-11 in the exhibit hall at CDA Presents The Art and Science of Dentistry in San Francisco. Learn more about the impact of Foundation programs and ways you can support the Foundation through donations or volunteer opportunities.

Individuals who donate on-site at the convention will walk away with a T-shirt as a “thank you” from the Foundation.

Give to the Foundation cash-free by shopping at Amazon

When you shop online through AmazonSmile, Amazon will automatically donate 0.5% of the price of your eligible purchases to your favorite charitable organization. Just choose the CDA Foundation, fill your list and let the donations add up at no extra cost.
