Quick Summary:
Dentists are invited to complete CDA’s latest Practice Health Check to get guidance on complying with employee licensure and training cycles, providing employee feedback in a fair and consistent manner and registering for the CalSavers retirement savings program by the upcoming deadline.

In their day-to-day practice, dentists must balance being an oral health care provider with being an employer.

Being an employer ― or practice owner ― means complying with state, local and federal laws and regulations, including in the area of employment practices where new laws emerge annually and others can change periodically throughout the year.

CDA has resources to help member dentists achieve and maintain compliance with California and federal employment laws and regulations. Every quarter, CDA publishes a Practice Health Check that focuses on a different topic related to the business side of dentistry. CDA’s latest Practice Health Check focuses on employment practices.

Employee licensure and training, CalSavers retirement plan, fair employee feedback

Each Practice Health Check contains just three questions members will ask themselves to gauge their compliance with a particular law or regulation. As they work through the health check, they’ll find detailed information about each law or regulation and any applicable compliance deadlines along with links to additional resources to help them comply.

CDA members are invited to take CDA’s second-quarter Practice Health Check to answer and get guidance on complying with the following:

  1. Are you auditing your employee licensure and training cycles?
  2. Are you utilizing a fair and consistent method to provide employee feedback?
  3. Are you ready for CalSavers? The deadline is fast approaching.

Members can log in to their CDA account to access the new Practice Health Check and review all Practice Health Checks dating back to 2021. This year’s first health check focused on regulatory compliance related to electronic prescribing, continuing education certificates and license renewal.

Of course, employment practices compliance encompasses dozens of topics not addressed in the Practice Health Check. For more resources, head to CDA’s employment practices resources library.
