Alert: COVID-19 closures
The closure order from July 13 does not impact dental practices.
California dentists with license renewals between the months of March and June have been granted an extension until Sept. 30, 2020.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, the director of the California Department of Consumer Affairs has been granted the authority to waive any requirements for licenses issued under the agency. As the result of CDA advocacy efforts, the DCA director’s first order waives continuing education requirements needed to renew a license for individuals whose licenses expire between March 31 and June 30, 2020. Licensees must satisfy any waived C.E. requirements by Sept. 30, 2020. The waiver does not change license-renewal expiration dates.
While this is an imperfect solution for all licensees impacted by COVID-19 containment efforts, it is an important step that the state has taken swiftly. CDA will continue advocacy efforts for additional extensions as the COVID-19 disruption continues to impact dentists.
CDA member options for continuing education
In an effort to help members obtain C.E. in a timely manner, CDA is providing access to audio recordings from prior CDA Presents and mandatory C.E. courses at no charge to members and their dental teams. CDA will also offer several live online C.E. courses featuring some of the topics that had been scheduled for CDA Presents Anaheim. Details on those webinars will be shared with members by end of day Friday, April 3.
