CDA’s Grassroots Advocacy Days have resumed, but instead of in-person meetings at the state Capitol in Sacramento, student representatives from California’s six dental schools have been meeting with legislators and legislative staff via Zoom over the last few weeks to lobby for critical issues affecting dentistry.

Practice owners will have the opportunity to take advantage of the newly extended Employee Retention Credit in 2021. The Taxpayer Certainty and Disaster Tax Relief Act of 2020 modifies and extends the ERC, allowing employers to claim a refundable tax credit against the employer share of Social Security tax.

Since June, CDA has conducted a weekly poll to gain further insight on the effects of the pandemic on dental teams and their progress over the last four months as they adapt to safely providing care under new protocols. These results highlight the current status of practices since resuming preventive care during the COVID-19 pandemic.
