Job Purpose

The Sr. Cloud Architect is responsible for leading the creation of a technology framework and providing technical leadership in support of CDA’s initiatives in cloud computing and automation, with a focus on the design of systems and services that run on cloud platforms.  The position will execute on the design, development and delivery of solutions that enables great customer experiences that deliver on desired functionality on behalf of the organization.  The Sr. Cloud Architect will be responsible for ensuring that critical applications are designed and optimized for security, high availability and disaster recovery.

Essential Functions (must be able to perform with/ without a reasonable accomodation)

  • Define a corporate cloud strategy and oversee the cloud adoption process
  • Lead cultural change for cloud adoption
  • Ability to take ownership of tasks and deliver solutions
  • Ensure assigned tasks are prioritized and executed within deadlines.
  • Ability to break up larger projects into individual pieces and assess complexity of each piece for development.

  • Work with IT Leadership to identify and implement new technologies and techniques that can improve our overall platform performance and ultimate customer experience.
  • Assist in technical audits and make sure to implement audit recommendations.
  • Proactively communicate and work to mitigate changes to project timelines, degradation in performance of applications, and concerns with project and/or product direction.
  • Establish best practices for cloud design, access, security, and auditing.
  • Monitor privacy and develop incident-response procedures.
  • Manage budgets and estimating costs of cloud solutions and services.

Required Education, License & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in technology-related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud hosting platforms.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience analyzing system requirements to determine specifications and standards in a corporate setting, developing, maintaining, and innovating large services and apps.

  • Strong understanding of software design & architecture.

  • Experienced with all system and software layers.

  •  Experience with relational database technology (MS SQL Server in particular).

  • Familiar with Agile Development and/or Scrum methodologies.

  • Strong communication skills with demonstrated ability to explain complex technical issues to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Organized and detail-oriented with ability to manage time effectively.

Preferred Education, License & Experience

  • Experience in a technical lead role.
  • Experience with additional database technologies (e.g Snowflake, Redshift).
  • Experience with load testing tools and platforms (e.g. Neoload).
  • Relevant industry (as applicable: Insurance, Supply, Non-profit, Membership) experience.
  • Relevant enterprise-level software (as applicable: Guidewire, Hybris) implementation experience.
  • Experience with AWS and/or Azure cloud hosting platforms.
