Job Purpose  

The Vice President of Technology and Digital Solutions is responsible for developing integrated industry-based solutions that address and deliver value to the member and client experience while supporting CDA enterprise business strategies. The leader will report to the Chief Information Officer and will serve as a primary liaison between the business units and the information technology team leads to drive effort to position CDA as the leading advocate for dentistry and oral health.

Strategic Direction

  • Drives transformational value through designing and overseeing implementation of projects and programs in the technology roadmap aligned to strategic business objectives. 
  • Leads technology aspect of digital transformation and collaborate with broader stakeholders on organizational change capabilities.  
  • Enables and communicates solution definition – showing how CDA will gain an edge in the marketplace and ensuring a position as the leading advocate in the fields of dentistry and oral health.  
  • Actively redesigns technology functions to improve flexibility, productivity, security, and Business-IT alignment. 
  • Acts as a trusted advisor who provides guidance and leadership on evaluation, selection, implementation, and maintenance of information systems, ensuring availability of all information to make appropriate investment in strategic and operational systems.
  • Provides advice, counsel, education, and service regarding IT issues and trends in the IT industry.
  • Effectively communicates IT plans, policies, and technology trends throughout the organization, including management groups and professional staff.
  • Provides pertinent information required by management in making effective decisions. Ensures that the gathering, processing, distribution and use of this information occurs in a timely, accurate and cost-effective manner through on-going review and education programs at executive, management and user levels.
  • Coordinates and manages the enhancements to and re­engineering of the association and subsidiaries systems, in keeping with the needs, desires and objectives of the association and subsidiaries. Provides quality service to end users in needs analysis, solution recommendation, vendor selection, implementation, training, and post-installation support.

Cross Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborates regularly across practices including, member services, client services, strategic intelligence, finance, marketing, and technology as well as with business unit, technology and strategy teams to reinvent the member customer experience by leveraging journey maps, understanding customer empathy, and data to create transformative digital interfaces, technology strategies, and process and service innovations. 
  • Proactively communicates timely updates of project status, milestones and barriers to executive leadership teams. 
  • Participates as a cross-functional strategic partner with the CDA and subsidiary executive teams applying the technology perspective and business experience to both strategic and operational decisions.  Supports these teams in developing strategy and direction for the enterprise. 
  • Responsible for monitoring IT activities and costs as related to the overall utilization of resources required to meet programmatic operational requirements.



Team Management

  • Responsible for committing multiple resources and achieving internal customer, member and client satisfaction, cost, expense, revenue and other business measurements of critical importance.  
  • Develops, motivates and leads an appropriate organizational structure capable of supporting the information needs of operating entities through appropriate and cost-effective information technology.
  • Responsible for the recruitment, development, motivation, and retention of assigned staff conforming to budgetary objectives and personnel policies.
  • Ensures appropriate training programs for the organization are in place to attract, retain, and develop the key personnel required to support information services.

Required Education, Licenses & Experience

  • B.S. in computer science, information systems or equivalent area of study.
  • Minimum 15 years of overall technical leadership experience in leading an IT function that includes information systems analysis, design, development, implementation, and operations. 
  • Minimum 10 years of management experience in information systems and technology, including local area and wide area networks, database administration using major vendor systems, data center operations, and telecommunications. 
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in full systems development life-cycle methodologies, computer-aided software engineering methods, relational and object-oriented methodologies.   Must have a proven record of accomplishment of successfully developing and deploying new information systems and information technology products in a networked environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and proven track record indicating the ability to attract, build and develop effective, productive, and motivated teams.
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills, ability to think strategically and possess a collaborative decision-making style.   Must be able to manage multiple divisions and projects in a client-server and Internet Web-enabled environments.   Must have demonstrated leadership and mentoring skills.

Preferred Education, Licenses & Experience

  • Advanced degree in computer science.
  • Experience in the dental or insurance industry.
