See all of the #CDACares social media action

Be part of the action at the CDA Cares volunteer dental event in Sacramento by viewing on-site photos from the Cal Expo fairgrounds this weekend at the CDA Cares "Social Hub."

The CDA Cares Social Hub is a landing page where attendees can view everything being said about the clinic on social media. The Social Hub pulls activity from various social media platforms such as Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and Google+ into one central location. All attendees will have to do to participate is use the #cdacares hashtag when sharing their photos, posts and tweets.

It is estimated that more than 2,000 patients will receive oral health care at the March 27-28 clinic thanks to approximately 1,700 volunteers helping to provide fillings, extractions, cleanings and oral health education at the two-day event.

CDA Cares educates the public and policymakers about the importance of good oral health and the need for a state Medi-Cal dental program (Denti-Cal) that works. Adult Denti-Cal benefits eliminated by the state in 2009 were partially restored last May, however, the program is chronically underfunded and leaves many, including the working poor, without access to care. A recent Denti-Cal audit shows most children enrolled in the program did not see a dentist in 2013.

Since 2012, with the help of 9,813 volunteers, CDA Cares has provided $9.2 million in care to 11,901 patients thanks to thousands of dentist volunteers and general volunteers.

Patients who plan to attend should enter the East Gate, according to Cal Expo officials.
