Dentists raise thousands for Foundation at House of Delegates

Thanks to the generosity of member dentists, nearly $100,000 was raised for the CDA Foundation and its programs at the CDA House of Delegates meeting.

Through a silent and live auction, raffle for a Costa Rica vacation and individual donations, $94,175 was raised for the CDA Foundation at the meeting in Sacramento on Nov. 15-17. The money will go toward supporting future CDA Cares clinics and the Student Loan Repayment Grant program.

“The CDA Foundation thanks the dentists who attended the House of Delegates meeting for their incredible amount of support,” said CDA Foundation Chair Don Rollofson, DMD. “Dentists understand that the Foundation’s programs are making an impact in communities across the state and the fact that we raised the funds we did is a testament to that.”

Rollofson and his wife Janet, CDA Past President Dan Davidson, DMD, Brent Ehrler and several CDA staff members donated items to the Foundation's live and silent auctions, which raised more than $51,000. The rest of the contributions came from the raffle, individual donations and dentists becoming Friends of the Foundation, which are key supporters who donate $100 or more each month to help fund essential programs like CDA Cares and the Student Loan Repayment Grant.

The following components sold raffle tickets: Tri-County Dental Society, Stanislaus Dental Society, San Gabriel Valley Dental Society, Kern County Dental Society, Los Angeles Dental Society, San Mateo County Dental Society, Orange County Dental Society, San Diego County Dental Society and Harbor Dental Society.

The CDA Foundation recently selected its 14th Student Loan Repayment Grant recipient as Stephanie Calvillo, DDS.

CDA Cares is a program that allows volunteer dentists, with the assistance of other dental professionals, to provide dental services at no charge to patients who experience barriers to care. To date, with the help of 4,559 volunteers, CDA Cares has provided $4.4 million in care to 5,878 patients. CDA Cares will be in San Diego, Dec. 7-8; Solano County, April 24-25, 2014; and Pomona, Nov. 20-21, 2014.
