To further develop international relations and collaborative partnerships, CDA signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with a South Korean dental association in August at CDA Presents in San Francisco.
The signing, which took place at the InterContinental Hotel in downtown San Francisco, binds CDA with the Gyeonggi Dental Association to forge scientific cooperative relations conceding matters such as contributing to the development/advancement of dental medicine in their respective countries.
“CDA Presents is always looking to expand its programs and maintain an educational integrity that is valuable to our members,” said CDA President, Lindsey Robinson, DDS. “It was an honor to sign this MOU because it continues our mission of creating an open exchange of dental education worldwide.”
The MOU also makes sure the organizations “promote the exchange of information of mutual interest and provision of information for visitors carried out” by the associations.
In recent years, CDA has worked to bring international voices to CDA Presents. Both the April 2013 Anaheim and August 2013 San Francisco shows featured an International Symposia with dentist speakers from Japan (Takashi Watanabe, DDS, and Kiyokazu Minami, DDS).
The upcoming CDA Presents show in Anaheim on May 15-17, 2014, will feature speakers from Germany (Norbert Krämer, Prof., PhD) and Mexico (Dr. Miguel Angel Diez Gurtubay).
Del Brunner, DDS, chair of the CDA Presents Board of Managers, says the MOU with the Gyeonggi Dental Association will help further these types of opportunities at future shows.
“We are really continuing and expanding our International Symposia concept with this MOU,” Brunner said. “We are excited how this idea is developing and increasing our international relationships. This adds value to our membership and to CDA as a whole.”
