A CDA Cares volunteer dental program is scheduled for April 25-26 at the Solano County Fairgrounds in Vallejo. To help provide oral health care services to the large number of expected patients, the CDA Foundation needs various volunteer types to sign up.
Below are the specific volunteers the CDA Foundation is seeking:
- general dentists (both days);
- pedodontists (both days);
- oral surgeons (especially on Friday);
- physicians, nurses and medical assistants (both days);
- dental assistants (both days); and
- lab technicians (both days).
With the help of community volunteers, dentists and dental professionals the program will provide at no charge cleanings, fillings, extractions, oral health education and resources for finding a dentist for follow-up care.
The goal of CDA Cares is to relieve pain and infection and educate the public and policymakers about the importance of good oral health and the need for an adequately funded dental safety net, including a state dental director who can develop programs to improve the oral health of Californians. Since 2012, the CDA Cares volunteer dental program has provided $6 million in care to more than 8,000 patients.
