Boost communication with lab techs at CDA Presents

Panel discussion, lectures to help dentists better understand lab techs at CDA Presents

How to communicate with lab technicians is an important part of running a dental practice. Attendees of CDA Presents Anaheim will have a chance to learn more about this during the Lab Track Panel Discussion. The panel will help dentists better understand the techniques lab technicians use.

“We want dentists to understand how to increase communication with the lab technicians because they are an important part of dentistry,” said Del Brunner, chair of the CDA Presents Board of Managers.

The Lab Track Panel Discussion will be held on Saturday, April 13 from 3 to 4 p.m. and led by Michael C. DiTolla, DDS, director of clinical education and research at Glidewell Laboratories. Other panelists will include Jack E. Edwards Jr., BA, CDT, MDT, TF, and Victor S. Rodriguez, AA, CDT, MAAIP. Edwards has more than 35 years of practical experience in all phases of dental technology. He currently owns a dental studio in Anaheim specializing in fixed and removable prosthetics and implants. Rodriguez maintains a private dental laboratory specializing in implant removable prosthetics and All-on-4 implants in Huntington Beach.

In addition to the panel discussion, DiTolla will lead the Digital Restorative Dentistry and the Lab lecture on April 13, which will help attendees understand the difference between monolithic and bi-layered restorations and which are suitable for digital restorative dentistry; learn the new cleaning, cementation and bonding protocol for different monolithic restorations; and analyze the pros and cons of the different digital impression systems.

Also on April 13, Edwards will lead a lecture titled Creating a Successful Smile by the Numbers that will teach attendees how to obtain and gather case information and measurements needed to design pleasing and functional removable protheses. Rodriguez will hold a lecture titled A Proactive Team Approach to Avoid Pitfalls With the All-on-4 Concept: From Immediate Extraction, Provisionalization to a Final CAD/CAM Procera Denture or a Zircon Fixed Bridge. The course will provide surgical teams, restorative dentists and lab technicians with useful pre-prosthetics, model diagnostics and laboratory techniques utilizing the All-on-4 worksheet.
