New from CDA, is e-Learning, a premier online education experience
Beginning on September 13, CDA is offering dental professionals a new option for taking continuing education through cda.org. Both infection control and California Dental Practice Act courses are available online, allowing professionals the opportunity to complete courses at their convenience.
The C.E. courses are part of CDA’s redesigned Web site. The new Web site is designed for greater accessibility to information and services, such as C.E. courses. The new CDA e-Learning section of the Web site is available to members and nonmembers by simply clicking on the “Online Learning” link on CDA’s homepage.
“CDA members have been asking for electronic course offerings for California Dental Practice Act and infection control for some time,” said Donna Drury-Klein, CDA assistant vice president of education. “Now, we have developed two truly interactive educational experiences that we believe will not only meet the needs of the membership but will exceed their expectations. With this successful launch, we are hopeful that CDA will become the only trusted online resource for our members, and will lead to the development of a small library of online continuing education courses in the future.”
Once dental professionals sign up for online courses, they will have 90 days to complete the course requirements. A temporary certificate of completion will be issued immediately upon successful completion of the course, with a permanent C.E. verification slip mailed to the participant within 10 days. Tuition for e-Learning courses will depend on the course title and membership status.
In offering online courses, CDA joins TDIC and the CDA Foundation, which have both been offering online learning opportunities for more than a year. On July 1, TDIC began offering its newest risk management course online. The course, titled RM 11: Charting the Course, focuses on maintaining accurate patient records to deliver continuous, consistent care and promote positive relations with patients. TDIC’s previous risk management course offering, RM 10: Sharing Patients and Risks, was also available online. For more information visit thedentists.com.
The CDA Foundation offers online courses including Early Childhood Caries Prevention through the First Smiles program. CDA Foundation courses are free and offer C.E. units. For more information, visit cdafoundation.org.
