ADA Council on Membership

In addition to the eligibility requirements stated in the Standing Rules for Councils and Commissions, a complement of the following qualifications is recommended for Council nominees:

  1. a desire to represent the Council and the Association and act as a decision-maker on issues concerning the roles and responsibilities of the Council;
  2. an understanding of the needs and opinions of members both as it relates to the Association serving the profession and the public;
  3. substantial service on a constituent and/or component society membership council, committee or task force; and current experience in dental society membership activities;
  4. knowledge of the services and benefits of membership;
  5. must be willing to talk to members about joining, renewing or soliciting their input/reaction on a particular topic;
  6. an understanding of the membership application procedures for the tripartite as well as the dues structure for the ADA, constituents and components;
  7. a commitment to the importance of sharing information as soon as possible throughout their trustee district including the use of the chair network;
  8. willingness to accept speaking assignments and participate in workshops at the request of the Council chair;
  9. a willingness to attend at least two Council meetings and devote time each month to review council materials;
  10. candidates should reflect the diversity of the membership; and
  11. knowledgeable in technology tools, have a computer and access to the Internet and e-mail.
