Thirteenth District Delegation

Reports To

Delegation Chair/CDA President –Carol G. Summerhays, DDS
Floor Manager

Purpose

To serve as one of the official representatives of this association to the House of Delegates of the American Dental Association, and to endeavor at all times to fulfill duties in a manner which will promote the best interests of the American Dental Association and the California Dental Association.

Term

One-half of the delegation shall be elected each year, in order to stagger terms.

Expected Meeting Attendance

Participation in the following meetings in 2009 is expected:

• May 5 – Thirteenth District Meeting – Anaheim
• August 27 – Orientation and Dinner – CDA Headquarters Building, Sacramento
• August 28 – Thirteenth District Meeting – CDA Headquarters Building, Sacramento
• October 2-6, 2009 – ADA House – Honolulu, HI
• Participate in social, networking and lobbying activities

Duties & Obligations

The duties and obligations of a delegate include:

• Read and become familiar with all meeting and background materials
• Participate in and contribute to a Reference Committee Study Group
• Serve as a mentor to a freshman delegate if requested
• Attend all delegation, reference committee, ADA house, planning and networking meetings while in San Francisco
• Serve as a Reference Committee Whip if called upon
• Network, build new relationships and maintain contact with delegates from other districts (distribution of business cards)
• Wear the lanyard and use provided identifying materials representing our delegation in California professionally, effectively and in keeping with CDA’s core values
