Leadership Development Committee
The Leadership Development Committee (LDC) has two major responsibilities: recruiting members to serve in CDA volunteer leadership positions and educating CDA members to help them develop leadership skills that will help in their professional, personal and volunteer endeavors.
Each member of the committee will serve on both the recruitment and education sides of LDC. Each member will also serve on the Recruitment subcommittee and either the Leadership Education Conference or Regional Trainings subcommittee.
The Recruitment Subcommittee will be headed by a chair and a vice chair. The vice chair will serve as subcommittee chair the following year. Each member of the subcommittee will be assigned to work with trustees and component executive directors to engage them in the recruitment process. All LDC members will be on the Recruitment Subcommittee.
The Leadership Education Conference Subcommittee will be headed by a chair and a co-chair. The co-chair will serve as subcommittee chair the following conference. The chair and co-chair will lead the committee and staff in selecting a theme for the conference, setting the agenda, and making decisions on keynote and breakout speakers. The chair and co-chair will actively provide assistance to staff in other aspects of planning and putting on the conference.
The Regional Trainings Subcommittee will be headed by a chair and co-chair. The co-chair will serve as subcommittee chair for the following regional trainings. The chair and co-chair will lead the committee and staff in selecting a theme for the trainings, setting the agenda, and making decisions on speakers. The chair and co-chair will actively provide assistance to staff in other aspects of planning and putting on the trainings.
Term
Members serve two-year terms with a maximum of two terms. One member must be a dentist within his or her first 10 years of practice.
Time Requirements
- Three in-person, general committee meetings a year
- General committee conference calls as required
- Subcommittee meetings and conference calls as required
- Leadership Education Conference (odd years)
- Some committee members will be required to attend Regional Trainings (even years)
