The next wave of the Healthy Families Program transition to the Medi-Cal program is set to occur on April 1.  It is important to note that the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services is requiring the state to again seek approval before they initiate this next phase (Phase 1c). A look into international restorative dentistry

CDA Presents The Art and Science of Dentistry in Anaheim on April 11-13 will feature an International Symposium for Dental Learning. Takashi Watanabe, DDS, a clinical professor and assistant director of continuing dental education at Meikai University School of Dentistry and president of the Japan Academy of Clinical Dentistry, will be lecturing on the restorative dentistry techniques in Japan. A recent decision by the Olivehurst Public Utility District to discontinue fluoridation of its community water supply is a reminder that debates concerning fluoride, as well as amalgam, continue to surface in California, and that dentists need to be aware of any activity in their communities. The CDA Dental Benefits Research Task Force has moved into the analysis and problem-solving phase of its efforts to identify strategies to enhance the position of providers and patients in the dental benefits marketplace. CDA Cares receives major donations

El Camino Hospital and Santa Clara County have donated a combined $45,000 toward the CDA Cares San Jose dental clinic. El Camino Hospital, which donated $20,000, is a nonprofit organization with hospital campuses in Mountain View and Los Gatos. The Santa Clara Board of Supervisors approved a $25,000 donation earlier this month. Read more >>
