Demandforce, which is a marketing and communications system company that specializes in strengthening online reputations, gave away the memberships via a randomized scratch-to-win promotion at their booths on the exhibit hall floor of the Moscone Center during the Sept. 4-6 convention. Rommel Bal, DDS, and Paul Griffith, DDS, are the dentists who were selected. Each of their full tripartite dues was paid for.
Dentists have often disagreed with the business model of Yelp, but a new court ruling further protects the online rating website in how it handles its marketing tactics. Specifically, the Ninth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco has ruled that it is legal for Yelp to manipulate its rating system to sell advertising, even though the company claims it does not currently do so.
