The California Dental Association (CDA) is the recognized leader for excellence in member services and advocacy promoting oral health and profession of dentistry.  The Dentists Insurance Company (TDIC), a subsidiary of the California Dental Association, underwrites Professional and Business Liability policies, Building and Business Personal Property, and Worker' Compensation coverage exclusively for dentists. 
 

The Senior Business Analyst/Project Manager will work with various departments to understand business challenges, translate business requirements into technical specifications, facilitate process improvements, and manage system solution implementation and support.  The analyst will facilitate a partnership between the business and IT to deliver optimized process and technology solutions.

 

This position will be responsible for overall coordination, status reporting and stability of complex and cross-functional project work efforts. Has the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Is a key strategist to further project management processes and methodologies. 

 

Responsibilities & Key Objectives

 ·         Drive clarity to business processes, requirements and workflow across the enterprise

 ·         Consistently improve business process efficiency

 ·         Identify and propose process improvement priorities

 ·         Develop project charter identifying the scope, purpose, budget, risks, and success criteria for the project, obtaining all necessary approvals

 ·         Create and maintain project work plans providing project milestones, tasks, responsibilities and timeframes

 ·         Provide all necessary documentation for the project, including meeting agendas and summaries, communications plans, project plans, action items, and status reports.

 ·         Provide thought leadership with technology identification & selection

 ·         Lead the overall User Acceptance Test (UAT) strategy and delivery

 ·         Lead the strategy and delivery for business process and information system training

 ·         Advance the methodology and tools for the CDA PMO

 

Detailed Work Activities:

 ·         Confer with colleagues to design systems and workflows based upon requirements

 ·         Consult with business teams to identify operating procedure problems and potential solutions

 ·         Champion policy creation or revision based on business analysis opportunity assessment

 ·         Develop project charter identifying the scope, purpose, budget, risks, and success criteria for the project, obtaining all necessary approvals

 ·         Create and maintain project work plans providing project milestones, tasks, responsibilities and timeframes

 ·         Provide all necessary documentation for the project, including meeting agendas and summaries, communications plans, project plans, action items, and status reports.

 ·         Manage implementation of enhanced and/or new procedures and policies

 ·         Analyze organizational operating practices or procedures

 ·         Analyze operational/management reports or data records in support of project deliverables

 ·         Recommend and propose new business reporting capabilities

 ·         Document as-is and to-be end-to-end workflows and business processes

 ·         Comprehend operating manuals and documentation content

 ·         Develop and conduct training   

 ·         Develop reusable business analyst procedures, methods and standards

 ·         Facilitate UAT process

 ·         Lead and define management of change activities across the entire enterprise

 ·         Ability to sell process improvement ideas across a diverse and challenging stakeholder environment

 ·         Able to identify risks and issues in advance to keep projects on track

 ·         Excellent written and verbal skills

 ·         Excellent interpersonal and customer relations skills

 ·         Insurance and/or Association business industry experience desired

 ·         Ability to back up Senior Project Manager

Education, Licenses & Experience

 ·         Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management Information Systems or Computer Science 

 ·         10+ years’ experience as a business analyst

 ·         CBAP certified or planned

 ·         PMP certification desired

 ·         Six Sigma certification a plus

 ·         Advanced Agile and Waterfall methodology experience
